Presented by New England Federal Credit Union Saturday, August 17 on the Burlington Waterfront!

BURLINGTON, VT—The Lake Champlain Maritime Festival announces the Second Annual Pirate 5k Run/Walk, presented by New England Federal Credit Union. The event is open to all ages and takes place on the beautiful Burlington Waterfront with the course running long the Burlington Bike Path. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Community Sailing Center’s WAVES Initiative, a program for children and adults that is designed to enhance their connection to the exciting ecosystems of Lake Champlain through interactive science lessons and recreation on the lake. Participants are invited to dress in their favorite pirate costume, and prizes will be awarded to Top Male, Female and Child. All runners will have the opportunity to take their photo with Rockin’ Ron the Friendly Pirate!

PirateRunners“We created the Pirate 5K presented by New England Federal Credit Union not only to raise money for the Lake Champlain Sailing Center WAVES program, but also to allow the community to experience the serenity of Lake Champlain through athleticism. In addition, people get to be creative and dress like a pirate! What could be better than that?” said Lisa Condon, Director of Non-Profit Development.
