LAKE CHAMPLAIN MARITIME FESTIVAL SAILING INTO TOWN AUGUST 6-9, 2015!
BURLINGTON, VT—The Lake Champlain Maritime Festival will hold the Festival at Burlington’s Waterfront Park August 6-9, 2015. The Lake Champlain Maritime Festival is excited to continue a nine-year tradition of exciting events!
THE 9th ANNUAL LAKE CHAMPLAIN MARITIME FESTIVAL
Now heading towards its ninth year, the Festival is a four-day celebration of Lake Champlain, showcasing hundreds of exhibits throughout sites on the Burlington Waterfront (Burlington Boathouse, Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center, Burlington’s Waterfront Park and more).
Past Festival activities have included: Lake Champlain Antique & Classic Boat Show on Saturday; Pirate 5k Run/Walk; Stand Up for the Lake; Free Concert Series; evening ticketed concerts, presented by Higher Ground; international food court and craft vendors; beer tent; maritime exhibits and more! The Lake Champlain Maritime Festival has been named a Top 100 North American Event by the American Bus Association and a Top Ten Vermont Summer Event by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce and is well-supported by both the state and regional chambers, as well as the city of Burlington. Daily admission is free to most events with select events requiring admission.

The America the Beautiful Tour 2015 consists of 2½ hours of Sweet Harmony & Garrison Keillor with piano master Richard Dworsky and Fred Newman, the world’s greatest SFX man, the Radio Rhubarb Band with Fiddling Richard Kriehn & Chris Siebold boy guitarist, Guy Noir, private eye & news from Lake Wobegon, audience chorale & poetry declamation & other classics from 41 years of radio history.
THE LAKE CHAMPLAIN 30thANTIQUE AND CLASSIC BOAT SHOW and PARADE
The Lake Champlain Antique and Classic Boat Society 30th Annual Vintage Boat Show returns to the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival, Saturday, August 8. The Boat Show is a hugely popular event, hosting thousands at Burlington’s Boat House. More than forty-five boats are on exhibit from Vermont, New York and as far away as New Jersey, Connecticut and Maine. Exhibits in most cases are planned by boat manufacture and/or by type of boat. The Lake Champlain Chapter practices skipper judging with judges and skippers voting for their favorite boat in their respective class (Cruiser/Outboard/Utility/Runabout/Sail and more) and during the course of the day boat owners will be available to answer any questions. Attendees have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award with ballots available at the registration tent. Time: 8-10:00am, Registration, Burlington Boat House | 10:00 am, Skippers Meeting, upstairs at Splash | 10am-4pm, Boat Exhibits and Demonstrations, Burlington Boat House | 4pm, Boat Parade, Burlington Boat House LCACBS Boat Classifications have included:
Historic: A boat built up to and including 1918.
Antique: A boat built between 1919 and 1942, inclusive.
Classic: A boat built between 1943 and 1975, inclusive. These age classifications apply to both boats and motors.
Early Contemporary: A wooden boat built 1976 to 1986.
Late Contemporary: A wooden boat built within the last 25 years.

STAND UP FOR THE LAKE and SPORTS EXPO
The Stand Up for the Lake is a community-based festival that promotes wellness, fitness, and lake stewardship through a chic and trendy sport—stand up paddle boarding and will take place on Saturday, August 8! The festival encourages the LCCSC to engage the community in and around Lake Champlain and fulfill our mission of encouraging lake stewardship. Sunday, throughout the day there will be a Sports Expo with stand-up paddle boarding demos, clinics, hot gear vendors and plenty of good times. The Community Sailing Center’s mission is to encourage and celebrate the responsible use and long-term stewardship of Lake Champlain by fostering educational and recreational opportunities for all members of our community. This is the second year the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival will host this must-do event and it is a must for all outdoor enthusiasts.
