O.A.R. headlines the Festival Thursday evening at Burlington Waterfront Park, presented by Higher Ground! Tickets on sale Friday, 4/29/11; gates: 6:00pm; show: 7:00pm. Early Bird (first 500 tickets): $25; Regular: $30; Day of Show: $35.

The members of O.A.R. first came together in Rockville, Maryland in the basement of drummer Chris Culos’ childhood home in 1996. As a young group of musicians, they were the prototype of the modern, self-starting band—taking charge of their fate by working the Internet and building an identifiable sound. The band’s music, a rock/reggae fusion, consisted of songs that were fully accessible, yet teasingly elusive. Attracting fans all across the country, the band members toured relentlessly, pushing their album sales through boundless dedication and word-of-mouth appeal, never waiting for the industry to catch up. Eleven years after the group’s first release, O.A.R. has come to stand for authentic rock music that reflects the collective triumphs and tragedies we all experience in this world: Real people making real music that resounds deeply with their fans. For more information about O.A.R., please visit: www.ofarevolution.com. In keeping with the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival’s mission to feature non-profits, O.A.R. supports Green Dream, an initiative to raise awareness about recycling, while educating fans about the environmental impact they can have in their communities.
