DEVIL MAKES THREE JOINS GOGOL BORDELLO AUGUST 9 at
LAKE CHAMPLAIN MARITIME FESTIVAL
MAIN STAGE CONCERT SERIES, presented by Higher Ground!
BURLINGTON, VT—The Devil Makes Three will join Gogol Bordello on Thursday, August 9 at the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival for its Main Stage Concert Line-up, presented by Higher Ground on the Burlington Waterfront.
THURSDAY, 8/9: GOGOL BORDELLO* with DEVIL MAKES THREE. Gogol Bordello combines elements of punk, Gypsy music, and Brechtian cabaret to tell the story of New York’s immigrant Diaspora through debauchery, humor, and surreal costumes. Leader and singer Eugene Hütz’s taste in music was spun out of black market tapes of the Birthday Party and Einstürzande Neubauten in his native Ukraine. After being evacuated to western Ukraine in 1986 following the Chernobyl disaster, Hütz became enamored of the mystical, outsider qualities of Gypsy music. For more information, please visit: www.gogolbordello.com. “…A whirling dervish of rubbery rhythms, bleating horns, and fiddles that rip like Slayer riffs.” – AV Club
“Few punks this side of the Mekons and the Clash make resistance sound as liberating as Gogol Bordello.” – Washington Post.
Devil Makes Three sold out their debut appearance this February at Higher Ground and return this summer to the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival to open for Gogol Bordello. With a slightly punky perspective on vintage American blues, The Devil Makes Three is a breath of fresh musical air on its eponymous Milan debut. Laced with elements of ragtime, country, folk and rockabilly, the critically praised, drummer-less trio, consisting of guitarist/frontman Pete Bernhard, stand-up bassist Lucia Turino and guitarist Cooper McBean, brings forth a genuine approach to acoustic music that is deeply steeped in rhythm.
